Snoring is a result of having the airway in your throat reduced in size while you sleep. The airway is made smaller when your lower jaw (mandible) moves back when you sleep. Some people just snore and others have sleep apnea associated with their snoring. With sleep apnea, a person stops breathing while they sleep. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that deprives your body of needed oxygen. People have died from heart failure associated with sleep apnea.
People tend to snore the most when they sleep on their back. Your weight and allergies can cause you to snore. The key to preventing problem with snoring and sleep apnea is to keep your airway open by holding your lower jaw in a forward position while you sleep. This is done by the use of an Anti-Snoring appliance.
The Forte Implant Center calls the appliance a Snoreguard. It requires two visits to our Plano dental office, and you will be on your way to a healthier night’s sleep. We are proud to serve the greater Dallas metroplex, including Plano, Frisco, Allen, and Fort Worth.
